Polling underway for NA-154 Lodhran-I by-elections


LODHRAN Feb 12 (TNS): Voting is in progress for the by election in NA-154 Lodhran-I.

Overall ten candidates are contesting the by election.

However, tough contest is expected among PPP candidate Mirza Muhammad Ali Baig, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Ali Khan Tareen and PML-N’s candidate Muhammad Iqbal Shah.

The polling is underway and will continue till five in the evening without any break.

According to returning officer, four hundred and thirty one thousand voters will cast their votes in the by-election.

Foolproof security arrangements have been made for holding free and fair by-election.

The seat fell vacant due to disqualification of PTI MNA Jahangir Khan Tareen.

Election Commission of Pakistan has fined the contesting candidates in Lodhran for violating the electoral code of conduct.

The Commission has imposed a fine of forty thousand rupees on Ali Khan Tareen of PTI and thirty thousand rupees on Iqbal Shah of PML (N).

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has also asked the Interior Ministry to clarify the status of contesting candidates in Senate Elections this year having dual nationality.
