FM in Colombo to discuss bilateral, regional issues with Sri Lankan leadership


Islamabad, Dec. 02 (TNS): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi is in Colombo to exchange views with Sri Lankan leadership on the entire gamut of bilateral relations and matters pertaining to regional and international issues.

During the two-day official visit, the Foreign Minister will call on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. He will also hold separate meeting with his newly-appointed Sri Lankan counterpart Dinesh Gunawardena.

Earlier, talking to media on his arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan and Sri Lanka enjoy longstanding and strong bilateral relations.

He said Pakistan and Sri Lanka have always supported each other in diverse field.

The Foreign Minister said the newly elected President and Prime Minster of Sri Lanka are friends of Pakistan.

He said he is here with a special letter from Prime Minister and President of Pakistan for the newly elected leadership of Sri Lanka.
