LHC rejects petitions against Maryam for ‘anti-judiciary’ speeches

LAHORE, Sep 19 (TNS): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday rejected the contempt of court petitions against Maryam Nawaz and Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Shahid Kareem heard the contempt of court petition filed by a citizen against Maryam Nawaz, daughter of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal.

During the proceedings, the court remarked that respect of courts does not decrease with the speeches in public rallies.

The judge further remarked that how can the High Court take action when the Supreme Court didn’t take notice.

The petitioner had submitted that Maryam Nawaz was targeting judiciary in her speeches thus committing contempt of court. He added that the people were concerned over the anti-judiciary statements and speeches of Maryam Nawaz.
