MNA Dasti complains about being ‘thrown’ to scorpions in jail

Multan June 29 (TNS): Member National Assembly from Muzaffargarh Jamshed Dasti on Thursday made a desperate complaint about harsh and inhuman treatment in the Multan jail claiming that the jail authorities have thrown him to scorpions in the “crabbed cell”.

The MAN has been incarcerating in Multan jail since June 9 after he was booked by the police accusing him of illegally opening a canal in Muzaffargarh on May 28. Following which, the irrigation department had filed a case against the MNA and he was arrested by the police while he was going home after attending the National Assembly sitting.

The MNA was taken to the anti-terrorism court under tight security. Since the judge was not present, District and Sessions Judge Sohail Ikram heard the case, ordering Dasti’s transfer to District Jail Sargodha till July 3, when the anti-terrorism court Sargodha judge, Tariq Saleem, will hear the case.

The MNA spoke to the media from the police van stating that the jail authorities were badly beating him and he was being thrown to the scorpions and other crabs to terrorize him and he has not been able to sleep since when he was put behind the bars.

Dasti appealed to the Supreme Court Chief Justice to take notice of the inhuman torture being meted out to him by his opponents through the jail authorities.

“I request to the Supreme Court Chief Justice and the authorities concerned to take note of the cruel treatment being meted out to me by the jail authorities and release me from the torturous cell, for God sake,” weeping Dasti said while speaking from the police prisoner transport vehicle.
