New bench to hear Tayyaba torture case

Islamabad June 1 (TNS): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has constituted a new bench to hear the torture case of housemaid Tayyaba, who was tormented by her former employer, who happens to be a couple.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Raja Khurram Ali Khan and his wife Maheen Zafar, against whom charges were framed by IHC judge Mohsin Akhtar Kayani on May 16, however, they pleaded not guilty.

Later the duo raised objection to the bench headed by Justice Kayani, who immediately recused himself and asked IHC Chief Justice Anwar Khan Kasi to constitute a new bench. Justice Kayani had told the IHC chief justice that he has completed the inquiry and proposed a penalty.

Now IHC judge Aamir Farooq will hear the case.
