Special protection unit to be setup soon: IG GB


ISLAMABAD, Jan 18 (TNS): Special protection unit in police department would be setup soon to ensure security of mega projects under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Inspector General of Police Gilgit Baltistan Sabir Ahmed said that the government has been taking security arrangements at different projects of China Pakistan Economic Corridor on top priority as this projects were considered to be milestone of Pakistan’s history and the country was becoming centre of world’s attention, Radio Pakistan reported.

All the foreigners were required to report to the district foreign security cell on their arrival and on their departure, he added.

IG said in another related move, the divisional police chiefs across the province have been directed to visit every development project in their respective areas where Chinese experts are working and to review their security.

CPEC was a geographical and economic reality which would change socio-economic scenario of Pakistan and rest of countries in the region, he mentioned.
