ISLAMABAD OCT 3 (TNS): Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Tuesday slammed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) for failing to recommend any name for the appointment of a new chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Speaking to media, Shah said he contacted PTI to propose any name for the appointment, but to no avail. The MQM-P too was dragging its feet to recommend the name, he added.
He hoped that the name of new NAB chairman would be finalized before Oct 8 when incumbent NAB chief Qamar Zaman Chaudhry is retiring.
Commenting on the election of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif as PML-N president, he said it was because of the PTI and MQM-P’s fault that the law allowing Sharif to be president of the party despite being disqualified by the apex court was passed by the Senate and National Assembly.
He said the PTI and MQM-P in order to cover up their fault staged a walkout in the national assembly to protest against the passage of the Election Bill 2017.
He said person-specific amendment was tantamount to mocking the Constitution.
